About me
Steve was born in Cardiff and went to Llandaff Cathedral School as a chorister in 1985, where he went on to be head chorister in 1990.
Steve then gained a DFE Scholarship and Specialist’s place at Wells Cathedral School.
Between 1994-1997, Steve enjoyed being a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
In 1996, Steve gained a Scholarship to Study at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Dame Thea King and Julian Farrell. Steve graduated in 2000, and was awarded the Guildhall – Wind, Brass & Percussion Orchestral Prize. In the same year Steve won 2nd Prize in the CASS Young Clarinettist of the Year.
In September 2000, Steve was appointed second & Eb Clarinet in the Cyprus Chamber Orchestra. Returning to the UK in 2001, Steve played with many orchestras in and around London as a freelance musician, and in 2004, he was appointed principal clarinet in the English Symphony Orchestra, leaving in 2012.
Steve’s commercial work includes: Mcfly, Lemar, Leona Lewis, Paul Potts, Lucie Silvas, Alison Moyet & Estelle.
TV Work includes: ITV Britain's got talent, ITV Record of the year, (Channel 4) Alternative Christmas Message, The Monkey-Eating Eagle of the Orinoco (BBC2).....
Steve is currently Musical Director of
Mary Poppins, at the Prince Edward Theatre, London.

In 2019-2020, Steve was the Musical Director at the Sondheim Theatre, for the new production of Les Miserables.
Previously in May 2018, Steve was the Musical Director of Les Miserables original production at the Queen's Theatre, London.
Steve has also worked as Associate Musical Director for the Les Miserables "all star concert version" at the Gielgud Theatre, London. And was previously associate conductor on Les Miserables in London from 2012-2018.
Steve worked as Associate Musical Supervisor of Mary Poppins, Japan (2017/2018).
During 2016 - 2017, Steve was the Musical Director of the Mary Poppins UK tour, and then went on to be the Musical Director for the Mary Poppins International tour to Zurich & Dubai.
Back in February 2016, Steve finished playing in Cameron Mackintosh's new production of Miss Saigon, which was showing at the Prince Edward Theatre, London. Steve was assistant conductor.
Steve was Musical Director for the "Hear the people sing" production of Les Miserables, in honour of the MP Jo Cox in Batley & Spen.
Steve has previously been the 3rd MD on the Les Miserables 25th anniversary International tour and the 3rd MD on Andrew Lloyd Webber's west end show, The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium.
Steve has played on many west end and touring shows, including Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, Funny Girl, White Christmas, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Wizard of Oz, Privates on Parade & Mary Poppins. Steve also depped on Evita, War Horse, West Side Story, Porgy & Bess and Sister Act.

Steve is the Musical Director of The Bourne Orchestra. This dazzling orchestra has previously worked alongside Lemar, Leona Lewis, Sarah Brightman and Estelle, as well as specialising in live film music.
Steve was the founding Musical Director of the innovative team-building programme, “Orchestrate”. This powerful experience has toured all over Europe, including Vienna, Barcelona, Berlin, Chantilly, Frankfurt and Seville, as well as the Royal Opera House, London's Excel Centre and The Barbican, In 2016, Steve took the event to New York in 2017.
